The Flowering Cross by Beth Ryan Illustrated by Renee Graef

I have joined http://www.booksneeze.com/ (Thomas Nelson Publishing) which provides free books to read in exchange for posting a review (positive or negative) about the book. This is being posted in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255.

The first book that I chose was The Flowering Cross by Beth Ryan, Illustrated by Renee Graef.
I chose a Children's book with craft instructions in it. I read this book to my 8 year-old daughter, Tyra. (I believe this book would be appropriate for any child between 6 and 10.) The story is about a little girl and her family who try really hard to be friends with the grouchy older neighbor next door and how they win him over and bring God into his life.
What I enjoyed most about this book is how the little girl never gave up inviting Papa Jack to church - and eventually she won him over. The verses and thoughts at the bottom of the pages helped my daughter and I discuss the book and how we would try to bring people to Jesus. I believe any child would get the message that the author was trying to get across.
The pictures in the book were very detail oriented. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to teach their child/grandchild the importance of perseverance for God.

(While at my dad's house for Easter, my daughter and my dad made this cross and Tyra put flowers in it for the centerpiece for the table.)
